E5-1

For Government & Public Works

E5 solutions help agencies deliver resilient, sustainable infrastructure that stands up to traffic, weather, chlorides, and time. By densifying the matrix and managing moisture from within, we support accelerated schedules, longer service life, and lower lifecycle costs across roads, bridges, tunnels, and facilities.

The Challenge for Government & Public Works

Public infrastructure must perform for decades under the heaviest loads and harshest environments—while staying on budget and opening on time. Bridge decks, pavements, dams, tunnels, and critical facilities face freeze-thaw cycles, de-icing salts, chemical exposure, and hydrostatic pressure, all while agencies juggle complex staging and traffic management.

Traditional approaches can leave concrete vulnerable. Porosity and permeability invite water and chlorides; freeze-thaw and scaling accelerate deterioration; and moisture in slabs leads to floor failures. At the same time, owners are under pressure to cut embodied carbon and document performance, from EPDs to lifecycle cost analyses.

Extreme Durability

Bridges, pavements, and waterworks must resist freeze-thaw and de-icing salts without premature scaling or cracking. (DOT practice references AASHTO/ASTM tests for F-T and scaling durability.)

Cost & Budget Constraints

Public projects demand solutions that reduce maintenance and total lifecycle costs over decades, not just low first cost.

Environmental Impact

Agencies are adopting low-carbon procurement (e.g., Buy Clean/EPD requirements) to reduce embodied carbon in concrete.

Moisture & Permeability

Water ingress undermines service life in foundations, dams, tunnels, and below-grade works; permeability under pressure is a key durability concern.

Limited Lane Closures & Work Windows

Work zones must minimize user delays; TMPs and lane-closure policies constrain construction hours, so schedule-neutral methods matter.

Chloride Ingress & Salt Exposure

Repeated exposure to de-icing salts drives chloride penetration and scaling; mixture quality and dense microstructure are critical.

The E5® Solution – Longer Service Life, Faster Delivery

E5® Nano Silica solutions densify and protect concrete from the inside out—cutting permeability, supporting cold-climate durability, and simplifying curing—so agencies can open assets sooner and own them for less.

Pour Predictability

Internal curing and engineered pozzolans stabilize workability and reduce permeability for reliable placements in tight work windows.
